It is our experience that physicians whose practices adhere to sound risk management principals generally find themselves less likely targets of malpractice claims. While errors seem inevitable, physicians can substantially reduce their risk of loss by following some tried and true guidelines.
CARE Professional Liability Association believes strongly in sound risk management. Our Risk Management Program seeks to protect our insured physicians by identifying problems and working together to resolve risk management issues before a claim occurs. Whatever we can do to help our physicians avoid a claim is beneficial for both the physician and for CARE.
Our Risk Management program is designed to make sure our member physicians adhere to similar standards.

Additionally, CARE:
Maintains an Advisory medical board to review risk management issues.
Performs a review of insurance applications by a medical and/or legal consultant if there are underwriting concerns.
Performs Internet credentialing searches on all applicants in order to insure only the best physicians.
Has Physician officers available for questions and consultations, as well as an experienced risk management advisor to answer questions regarding office protocols.
The goal of our Risk Management Program is to provide our physicians with the necessary tools to decrease their individual liability potential while striving to insure only physicians with the highest standards.

We make available to insured physicians a copy of “Malpractice: The Basics.” This reference booklet, available here, informs the physicians of proper procedures in the event of liability problems.
